چکیده

The nosological status of Still's disease (juvenile chronic polyarthritis) in relation to adult rheumatoid arthritis has been widely debated; one of the major differences is the markedly lower frequency of rheumatoid factor in the former even at low titres. Bywaters, Carter, and Scott (1959) reported that only 13-4 per cent. of 142 patients had a positive Waaler-Rose or differential agglutination test (DAT) of 1: 16 or more on initial testing. Cassidy and Valkenburg (1967), using the human erythrocyte agglutination test and the latex-fixation test, showed 22 per cent. of 110 patients with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis of onset before the age of 15 years to be positive by one or other test. In the largest published series, Laaksonen (1966) showed that the latex-fixation test was positive in 29 5 per cent. of 363 cases and the Waaler-Rose in 112 per cent. of 384 cases; and, further, that positivity in either test was more common in cases in which the age at onset was over 6 years.

FII haemagglutination test for serum antigammaglobulin factors in arthritides sero-positive and sero-negative by other tests.

The serological tests for rheumatoid serum factors fall into two categories, in which rabbit antibody and human gamma globulin respectively provide the reactant. Clinically, the chief use of these tests for serum antiglobulin factors is to assist diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis, and serum titres above given levels are commonly regarded as "positive". In most tests the "positive" level has bee...

Raised IgG antiglobulin factors in Still's disease.

Still's disease (juvenile chronic polyarthritis) differs markedly from adult rheumatoid arthritis in the relative incidence of rheumatoid factor. The sheep cell agglutination test was found to be positive in only 11 to 13 per cent. of Still's disease patients compared with 70 to 80 per cent. of affected adults (Bywaters, Carter, and Scott, 1959; Laaksonen, 1966). Similarly, using the sensitive ...

IgG, IgA, IgM, and IgD antiglobulins in juvenile rheumatoid arthritis.

Usual techniques for the detection of antigammaglobulin factors (DAT, SCAT, HEAT, Latex FII) are based upon agglutination reactions and are therefore useful when IgM antibodies are involved. It is well known that antiglobulins also belong to IgG and IgA classes. In our experience, 50 per cent. of patients with JRA are persistently seronegative when sera are tested only with conventional aggluti...

Effectiveness of Thermostable Vaccine for Newcastle Disease Produced by the Razi Institute on Backyard Poultry in Iran during 2015

Newcastle disease causes many economic losses to the poultry industry in most countries. This disease is endemic in Iran. Backyard poultry is considered the reservoir of Newcastle virus; however, there is either no vaccination program against Newcastle, or it is performed in a restricted manner. Commercial live vaccines are inactive and sensitive to temperature; moreover, vaccine delivery to vi...

A family study in Still's disease.

Familial studies in inflammatory polyarthritis indicate strong hereditary factors, particularly in relationship to the serological tests (Lawrence and Ball, 1958). In a single kindred of some 3,000 persons reported briefly by Whittinghill, Hendricks, Taylor, and Thorp (1958), rheumatoid arthritis was distributed independently of spondylitis and Still's disease. The ten spondylitics had higher t...
